Jeepers I Almost Had a Heart Attack!

First let me give you some background. I lost everything on my iMac hard drive including the hours and hours of work I put into making my Commander Broccoli Comic Book. I had been redrawing comics, colouring them in photoshop, doing the page layouts, researching etc etc... and I lost it all. All my stuff was gone and there was no recovering it because my iMac had somehow been in some security mode that would not let it be retrieved, so when it fried, I had no chance to recover anything. To make matters worse, I had pre-sold my books to a few dozen people. They sent me money for their copy of the book and for shipping all in good hopes that they would be getting my first published collection of Commander Broccoli comics. So I was completely... I don't even know how to explain it... but  I felt bad, really bad. So I decided, if I had to, I was going to re-scan, redraw, reformat years of comics I had drawn over the years. I didn't know how long it would take. Maybe many months, maybe years.

The only hope I had was my external hard drive, at least it would be only a months worth of work to re-do. But it was not retrieving any of my information. More discouragement.

My mom was on my case all the time, telling me to get going on re-doing my book. I know, I told her... I will. But I was still pretty discouraged and didn't know where to even start. Finally Jared brought me all my old comic strip drawings so I could begin scanning them again. And my mom kept bugging me.

So that brings us here, to the part about the heart attack... I thought I would give my hard drive one more chance before re-scanning everything. Once again I looked up some potential solutions online and once again, I prayed like a Grandmother with multiple gangster grandkids... I followed the advice of a troubleshooting forum, and plugged in my external hard drive two thirds of the way in... And then! OMG!!!!!!! The hard drive showed up!!!! My reaction was unlike any reaction I had every reacted and my family came running to see what was wrong... Nothing is wrong!!!!! I said, I got my comics!!!!!!!!

So all day I was trying to catch my breathe... all day my husband was chuckling at me... wow... I got my comics. I still can hardly believe it.

I am now infinitely more inspired to get working on my book now!
